I use a rope tether but an Austri Alpin buckle on tubular web for my bridge. I like it but sitting in a tree looking at that little pin holding your life to the tree is a little nerve racking.

Your combination will definitely work. I’ve made one similarly (although I do prefer rope because of its abrasion resistance). Aerohunter isn’t using the d ring cobra end, they are using the frame adjuster buckle (both the tri glide and square frame end). The d ring cobra buckle is plenty strong enough but isn’t as light as the frame buckle combination.

Using this on your tether should not be a problem unless you are introducing slack. I used a similar set up for an adjustable bridge and had some issues. Look at comment #14 and #17 in the post below.

Yes I've used this last year and this year with the drey I got this year ,my webbing rolls with the d ring adjuster sometimes and gets bound up ,I do have rope tethers but just ropemans and kong ducks on them, wanting to get out of mechanical adjusters

What don’t you like about mechanical adjusters? Seems to me the AustriAlpin buckle isn’t far from a mechanical ascender in this function. Have you considered friction hitches on your rope?

I don't mind them really ,I like my ropeman on my 11mm predator l.b. ,it's a good rope for spike climbing which I do ,the astri alpine buckle is nice but 3 times as noisy as your worst day with a ropeman,or kong duck since it don't stay somewhat locked in one position ,I like a webbing tether and was thinking the shrike might fix all I have issues with ,as far as then clanks and webbing rolls but idk

Except that mechanical adjusters fail at 1000 lbs of force and the cobra buckle won’t fail until 4000 lbs. one is achievable in a fall, the other would take a ridiculous fall to reach
