Taxidermy question where to find a Jackalope

Usually we get our deer euro mounted and they hang in the house. This year I made a bad judgment call on a buck that did not meet my goals for the year. I didn’t want to get him euro mounted as I didn’t plan on hanging him in the house. However I have decided I’d like to get a jackalope made up and use his horns and put it in my shop.

Anyone had one of these made or know of a place to find one? I thought with the amount u see floating around there may be some diy kit where you could buy the mount or imitation and then attach the antlers.

Conies are thin skinned and a pain to work with. A good looking Jackalope won't be cheap. A cheap Jackalope won't be good looking.

I don't know of a kit, but it is the sort of thing that tends to DIY or bad taxidermy. Can be done well if it's worth it.

A decent Euro mount is way cheaper.

Ya I was researching it I figured there would be some kit offered that would be a fake rabbit pelt but I had no such luck finding one. High quality is not on my priority list. I’d really just like to have it in the shop for a daily reminder to slow down and re evaluate my target before I let one fly. What better way to do that than look at a jackalope every time I walk out of the shop lol.

I don't have any problem with a Jackalope mount, nor your sentiment necessarily.

But I am watching Jim Valvano's speech on TV right now, and it's a great reminder that every buck, every deer, every moment afield is a blessing; enjoy our lives and give thanks.

I'd mount it like the others, and appreciate it the same. You're already driven, more big bucks will follow.

I'm usually a proponent of doing taxidermy right or not at all, but with a jackalope jankyness us part of the charm.

Also, I raise OP a flying jackalope.

The fact you used the word jank makes me so happy. I also agree, it needs to look a bit sketchy so it matches your jars full of doll heads and what not next to it.

Yes, exactly. And the sketchy electric work done by cousin Ronny where he patched in a CCTV he got from a Blockbuster store.
My house was built/maintained by somebody who would rather be fishing that day. You can tell throughout the house the exact moment they said, "Heck with it."

Breaker box is upside down.

Outdoor flood light didn't have a ground.

3 different diameters and 2 different pipe materials on my water main.

Light switches are noticeably different in height in the living room.

Bathroom walls are OSB board with 17 coats of paint. Bathroom counter is doubled up OSB with bartop varnish to seal it.

There truly is a home out there for everybody, and I've found mine. Gotta love the fish camp aesthetic!

There are many of us here who would gladly ditch our current home for your stabbin cabin down in the durty durty.

all you need is a jack rabbit skin and your dreams can come true.

A sneak mount? I'm jealous. My jackalope is a bog-standard "marine recruit trying desperately to not fail the rubber chicken test" front facer.

3000 years from now, some poor SOB archaeology intern is going to find one of these "janky" jackalopes and think he discovered an important religious artifact...

Come to think of it, that's probably what the Egyptians did with us; The riddle of the Sphinx? Easy: just some ancient hunters with a sense of humor. Move over Indiana Jones!
