No bows or arrows, just something you take with you, every time you go and it's Your Favorite.

For me, it's a device called The Booger. I picked it up at the Ohio Deer & Turkey Expo, over 25 years ago, for $20. It's always in my gear bag and I never hunt without it. I've used it to retrieve a hat, single arrow, release, etc. Just tie it on my bow retrieval line, set it and drop it on the item, from about a foot over it. It'll grab hold, like a leg hold trap....but not as hard. :)

My bow string, cant play string music without it. ;)

My pack would probably be my first choice. It carries everything I need to make a hunt. I can wear it all day and never tire from having it on and when I need to bring a critter out it will carry more weight than I can tote. Seriously, I have done a couple miles with #100 and have also done up and down 240 flights of stairs with the same weight and yes the legs get tired but it does not make my back or anything else hurt. A well built pack that fits your body is a piece of gear I could not more strongly recommend. It is an investment for sure but absolutely worth it, imo.

I'll go with my Garmin eTrex 20. That goes just about everywhere I go in the woods all year round. MR Popup 28 is up there too along with my go to pair of Mechanix gloves in terms of frequent use and virtually zero bad feedback.

Sentimental: My rtic water bottle. My kids helped me camo hockey tape the outside to cover up the shiny metal/make it quieter a few years ago and it reminds me of them every time I use it.

Practical: My compass. Have navigated out of the woods after dark and had my electronics die halfway out (failing cell phone battery dropped from 50 to 0 in 5 minutes), a simple compass will save your life or prevent a crappy night in the woods. I know because my bed was as comfy as ever that night.

I have a Nalgene bottle that’s almost 26 years old. It’s literally been all over the world with me. It saved my butt on an elk hunt in Colorado when I got bad dehydrated. I’d rank it right up there with my top choices.

A plush hand towel. I keep several clean at home so I have a fresh one each hunt. I just buy cheap ones at Wally world or something. When it's cold, my nose runs, the way my sinuses are shaped, this makes it run down the back of my throat and makes me cough. The hand towel doubled over and pressed over my mouth is a great cough damper. Also, comes in handy to blow your nose (just know which side is the boogie side) and I've even used it when I didn't have TP and just buried the towel in the woods.

My father-in-law. I have some of his ashes in a bullet necklace that hangs off my neck on about every hunt unless I'm in a hurry and I take off and forget him lol. He and I got along better than him and his 6 sons did because I was as crazy about deer hunting as he was.

I’m doing that next season

nice, hope you like it

it weighs next to nothing and i just roll it up and stick it in its usual place in the pack
Yes. That's a great idea. So many uses for that. I couldn't tell you how many times I could have used one in the past especially after gutting one out.

Would have to be my Trophyline cay 2.0 pack. I really put that pack through it this season. It carried everything from climbing sticks to blinds and chairs. Definitely my favorite piece of gear I got this year.

That’s tough. Love my EWO one stick setup as well as my turkey vest setup, bit I often find that I get the most enjoyment out of little things rather than the big things. I’m going to go with the Thermaseat Heat-a-Seat. That thing is wonderful as a tree pad to put your knees into. I would definitely say that it helps me kill more deer because I can sit for hours, never move and stay comfortable the whole sit. I can forget a lot of things and still hunt, but if I forget that, I’m going back for it.
