Where the skys are so blue!
I've never worn a watch, but kiddo is making me a time nut. Phone is kinda hard to dig out and check with her in my arms.

What's a decent, cheap, basic digital watch that lets me set an alarm/timer with a minimum amount of button fiddling? I don't want or need an altimeter, gps, calendar, lunar phase, etc. Just time, timer, and alarm. Don't wanna spend too much since I don't see wearing it once she gets a bit bigger.

Garmin instinct, it has the things you say you don’t want plus some things you never knew you needed. The tracker and gps functions are great as well as the Garmin explore maps and way points. If you’re working out and working on fitness it tracts that well, as well as sleep, stress, blood O2, etc. they can be had pretty cheap on sale. Well worth the money.

Ditto on the Timex. If ever you want to go fancier I’d also suggest the Casio GAB series. I recently got a “CasiOak” G-Shock for a few more features, solar charging, durability—and if I’m honest because it’s a digital watch with an analog face. I love the functionality of digitals but much prefer the classic clock hands face.

But really if you just want a cheap temporary digital watch, get a $10-12 any model at Walmart. Not saying they’re bulletproof because they’re just cheap plastic and silicone but frankly if you’re not abusing them they’ll last a long time. I still have one running fine about eight years going.

I know you stated digital but I absolutely cannot complain about this Citizen Diver Ecodrive I’ve had for 3-4 years now. I beat on it too. I switched out the diving oriented wrist band for something more my speed. Highly recommend. IMG_3164.jpeg

Ditto on the Timex Ironman. The cheapest they have at walmart will probably look like this:

If wallyworld doesn't have it try the other big box or department stores. Shouldn't be more than $40-$50. I've worn these for over two decades and in that time I don't think I've gone through more than 3 or 4 watches. By "worn these for over two decades" I mean I leave it on to sleep, in the shower, scuba diving, shooting, spraying DEET or permetherin or brake parts cleaner, kettlebell cleans, whatever, I am absolutely indifferent to any damage my wristwatch may suffer.

Of course, now that I say that I should admit that this week I got a Samsung smartwatch so I can get a better handle on sleep and other fitness tracking. Wondering how long it will take before I forget it's not a Timex and crush it somewhere.

Thought you just got a new alarm with a built in timer :p
The primary reason for purchase was to let me quickly set a 5 minute timer post-poo, to reduce the occurrence of mid-diaper-change sneak-poos. Day 1 lesson was that while I don't wanna let my kid sit in poo, I also don't wanna change the same diaper twice. Poo noises...5 minute timer. If 5 minutes with no further poo noises...change diaper. If poo noises...reset 5 minute timer.

How many minutes do you set the timer for after a blowout? Lol I'm so glad my diaper days are in the past, good luck, I hope the timer system works for ya

Treat that youngin like a gun and never point it at something you dont want to shoot.

So far I've only had one true blowout and the culprit who didn't tighten the diaper properly (not naming names) was promptly notified of the problem.

We do run on about a 3 hour cycle right now. Feed, burp, change, play for a minute, then coma-nap. Rinse and repeat.

Really, she's shockingly easy. It helps that we split the load. She's got 12 or 16 weeks of leave and I'm remote.

Ambush dumps and surprise blowouts are something else. Before I became a dad I thought the only way somebody else could poop my pants would involve alcohol. Nope! Newborns will find a way.

As a Dad in my Sophmore season to a little girl…she’s gonna get you on a schedule real quick and you won’t need a timer or an alarm. She’ll let know when it time to do everything! Trust me, they poo while holding a conversation with you and you’ll never know it until it’s already too late. I pretty much know when she’s gonna poo and how many times a day she should or shouldn’t go or when it’s time to eat, take a nap etc. You’ll learn quicker than you ever thought was possible when it comes to little ones. My little has never worn watch, doesn’t know what a watch is but I’ll be damned if she doesn’t know the exact time when bath time is, bed time is, wake-up time is or eating time is!
