what if shirts came with a seatbelt? it would also serve no purpose would you still wear that?

But they don’t.

Saddles do. The ones I use were designed and tested using leg straps. And when I use rope to climb trees I’m damn certain those leg straps are keeping the saddle properly oriented on my body.

Don’t yuck my yum.

but they're not keeping the saddle properly oriented on your body. You might sinch them down as tight as they go but 100's of other guys wear them loose or not at all and their saddle stays properly oriented on their body so it's not the leg straps doing it.

Why did you ask this question? Only to argue against every reason for leg straps presented so that you can continue to feel good about not using leg straps?

It's weird.

If it's weird don't look at this thread easy enough. Why did you comment so you can continue to feel good about using leg straps? I'm having a discussion on a forum. I mean I could be wrong but usually forums are designed to have discussions.

Can you site any references for the positions you’re taking? This site has a history of promoting safe climbing practices, so if you have some great insight that is contrary to all the industry standard practices, please enlighten us.

I just did to your post. you claimed that the leg straps were keeping the saddle oriented on your body. my saddle stays oriented on my body perfectly and i dont wear leg straps. So it must be something else. And thats just one. i mentioned many others before.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone just listening to points and give out other points. I dont care what anyone does when it comes to their own safety.

Because not everyone climbs the same way. Non-rope climbers don't put the same angles stress on the saddle to cause movement as rope climbers.

I mean I have SRT, multiple stick climbed now I one stick and have zero issues with my saddle on anything of them.

I used to find that when wearing my saddle in the legstraps sometimes wanted to pull & move around so I’d leave them off ( kestrel) then buckle at the base of the tree. Then when I got my kite I had to step through & got used to that & requested my TX5 legstraps the same way with those box buckles. I wear mine because if I’m climbing I can think of a few ways that if you ended up dangling or sliding then I’d like my saddle to roughly stay in the same spot on my hips. I honestly don’t think it matters a lot at hunting height but by that time it’s more work to get mine off…….

you dont need leg straps or à waist belt....i would bet money that no one would ever die without them.....physics says you will hang by your waist or armpits like a coastgaurd rescue....its best to stay on the side of caution however some cautions are irational fears.

How many times have you fell? In what ways have you fell?

Since you brought up a seatbelt in one of your other posts, I’ll use that as an example. This statement is like saying I’ve driven my car many times and never flew out, why do I need a seatbelt?

And just to make sure I’m clear, your argument is that legs straps are unnecessary because you have never needed them and a couple products in an industry with no safety standards made by companies with unknown safety experience don’t include them?
