Hauling Bike on Hitch Cargo Hauler

I have an SUV and not a truck. I’m trying to figure out a way to put my bike onto this hitch cargo hauler since the bike doesn’t fit into the back of the SUV.

I know you can buy attachments online etc, but wondering anyone has figured out a way to do it with what they have on hand in their garage.

I use a bike I found in the garage so I don’t care about scratching it. I just lay it on there and ratchet strap on. If I were to get a deer with the bike I would ratchet strap the deer on then strap the bike on top of the deer “ being very diligent about not scratching the antlers!
 
Yeah I can’t say I’m going to be over cautious with this, but that 2x4 example gives me some ideas. Might lay it right on the carrier to close this season out and brainstorm for next year.
 
I thought about suggesting a couple 2x4 to hold the wheels where you want them and a ratchstrap. It'd be easy enough to make simple uprights if you need the height and/or want to capture the frame, the strap is doing all the work. I had a similar grate set up for 4 bikes with the hoops for the wheels, it's still 100% the strap doing the work
 
Going to give this a try. Shook it around quite a bit and didn’t budge too much, so I gave it the standard, “that’s goin nowhere”. Just wrapped the ratchet strap around the seat post and the front fork.

that should work and get ya there, but I would throw a small strap through the front wheel and attach to the hauler as an extra measure of caution to make it sure it doesn't roll on ya and end up dragging behind your truck (ask me how I know :tearsofjoy:)

Yep. I have more than that in the one I made but it tilts out to access tailgate.
 
this is better for an ebike, a regular bike rack doesn't work well. Aluminum 1 is about $60 more. You can rig that up if u want but looking back dragging your bike down the highway is gonna make u wish u spent the $100
