Field testing day.....pleased with my results

This winter I spent some time and money expanding my saddle hunting options for 2024.....well at least hopefully. I bought a 5th 20'" Beast Gear stick and BAT mini-platform as the core of a ring of steps setup I was building, taking Red's suggestion to use a OCB for the locking mechanism. I put...

    Ropeman1 recall

True, but with a double sewn eye cord for a hitch like the Stitch, it isn't so much cheaper. It certainly was with the Longhorn Agile on my main tether.

    Ropeman1 recall

Thanks for the heads-up. Mine is NOT in the batch number, thankfully. I shifted to hitches on my tether this winter and am not using a mechanical device any longer.

What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Thanks again for reaching out. If I have any future questions, I will indeed message you directly. I'm hoping to use it in the early season and on hunts where I have a longer hike in.

Michigan meet up May 11th @Sleepy Holliw State Park, 11 A.M.

I hope to make it next Saturday.....not 100% sure of my schedule. 2023 was my first year of saddle hunting and I've learned a LOT.....but am a stick ascender. Anything you folks have that can be demonstrated 'live' will be appreciated.....one stick, various rope methods, etc.

What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

I knew a well regarded SH member built the Wood saddles and they received good reviews, so when I ran across this one virtually unused, I could not pass it up. No idea you still worked on them or had parts. Thanks for reaching out and I will keep you in mind if I have further questions. Below...

What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

I recently bought a virtually new Wood saddle as my early season/backup. It came with an open Amsteel bridge connecting with a carabiner. Not a fan, so I ended up ordering a rope replacement from Hang Free. 8mm Oplux with a TRC sewn loop for the prusik. There were no instructions with the HF...

    My challenge to you

Me too enkriss....but I blame it on being pretty new to this aspect of bowhunting and perfecting my approach. I recently sold a Hamseka rest and bought a nearly new Wood mesh saddle as a backup and lighter weight early season option. Most of my winter additions and modifications are...

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

I currently have two 11mm tethers.......the EWO Predator has a Longhorn Agile and the other has a Stitch with a Brocky soft ring. I've tried them both out on a front yard tree by sitting in my saddle to give them a realistic load, then standing up while leaning. Both with adjust without...

    Learning from Saddle Hunting Accidents

"Practice anything new only a couple of feet off of the ground at first. Take your time, don’t try to fly up the tree or do it in as few moves as possible." I'm not going to engage the ongoing debates about the finer points, but did find this little gem to be very worthwhile in my own saddle...

    Lightweight Climbing Sticks Selection Confusion

I own them both and do not have to choose......other than which to take to the woods that particular day. But anyone who is basing a purchase decision on ~1# of weight difference needs some first hand exposure to make an informed decision.

    Lightweight Climbing Sticks Selection Confusion

I can't debate that a bit....they are excellent sticks. I picked up a used single BG stick (5th) recently and put on a BAT mini platform on the top to test out with a ROS I built this winter. If I had to choose one or the other......the Latitude might be the ones heading to a new home.

    Lightweight Climbing Sticks Selection Confusion

I have two of the four being considered. Set of four Latitude carbon SS w/Stealh Strips, standard Amsteel attachment method and loop of cord for hanging on saddle clips while ascending, plus Voile strap.....5.6#. Set of four 20" Beast Gear sticks w/Stealth Strips, DIY Amsteel daisy chains, loop...

    Overwatch Orion

When I was shopping for my first saddle last fall, I 'stumbled' upon Overwatch and contacted Jamie with a couple questions. He answered promptly and that was the clincher for me to buy one of his earlier models used. I've tried on a couple other brands, but from a season with my Overwatch, I...

That is on me for not checking.....thank so much for taking the lead. I will do my best to free up my calendar. Weekends are busy for me.
