That's what I'm talking about! For an old guy like me, the "Power Napability" of saddle hunting is certainly a major plus for the technique.

You sound like me. Once I commit to something, I'm borderline obsessive. Just trying to ease into Saddle Hunting without breaking the bank right off the bat. If this sticks, I'm sure I'll be splicing and dicing all sorts of crap.

Excellent, thanks. Of course, you hit the nail on the head regarding "serviceable". That's the key to safety, and I'm feeling pretty confident because I've got a brand new HSS Lifeline system that hasn't been exposed to the elements.

No worries on the math.;) I contacted Summit regarding their lifeline systems and got a fast response. The tensile strengths on their carabiner, rope, and prusik are 5,000#, 5,000#. and 3,500# respectively.

A big AMEN to all of that! Being broke and alive is way better than being once-rich and dead.

I found a similar specification. But, as you've noted, it appears to be a standard static load rating similar to what tree stands advertise. Seems like if HSS had a legitimate climbing strength rating, they would be proud enough of it to tell us.

As a long-time bow hunter but someone newly interested in giving Saddle Hunting a try, I'm wondering if there's any reason I could not or, perhaps more importantly, SHOULD NOT use something like a shortened Hunter Safety Systems Lifeline and Prusik Knot for my tether? I have an abundance of...

Yes, this website and forum seems like an excellent resource. What's your equipment setup?

    Saddle Comfort

Excellent!!! I may take you up on that offer. As you can imagine, I'm currently drowning in YouTube videos as part of my due-diligence on this. But, I can think of nothing more valuable than some actual hands-on experience with the gear prior to purchase. I've got your YouTube channel...

    Saddle Comfort

I'm about to turn 62, and have been bow hunting for nearly 40 years. But, I'm seriously considering a plunge into Saddle Hunting. So, I'm encouraged to hear from you that it's not JUST a young man's game. I'm in fairly good shape and spend much of the archery season hunting out of lock-on...
