    The safeguard is what you want for rappelling.. the life guard has a spring in it to help it stay open for belaying and the safeguard has no spring so once you release the lever it goes straight to full brake

    I have black diamond I like it... I rappel down so I don’t have to fumble with the aider coming down the tree.. it’s easy getting up the tree though
