    That's what I have been leaning towards. When you SRT climb, when you step up with the foot loop there is a slight bounce. I think it has to do with my weight and that "bounce" that binds the rope. On the ground or just slightly off the ground it works fine but this is only when I have actually...

    Yeah I can 100% tell you that I'm not holding the tag end tight at all in those videos. I'm holding it taut but that it's it. At the base of the tree it works well, it's when I get at height and my full weight on it.

    Yep, happened from one single descended. I didn't Rambo down either or anything like that. Rope was brand new.

    Yep, have both of those. You seen the video where I was prying on the handle of the lifeguard with everything I had and it wouldn't let go.

    @bj139 Yep, I find it easier with the drt because I can put both hands on the ascender and pull up that way because I don't have to tend or pull the rope through a belay device.

    Just like you I'm obsessed with finding the best way to get to hunting height. I've tried most ways but not all. Spent countless hours on YouTube watching every way possible to get up a tree. As you have probably found out, there is no one system beats all. Each system has it's drawbacks...
