    Favorite podcast?

My favorites couldn't really be any more different and still be hunting centric. 1. Bear Grease- Clay Newcomb's documentary style podcast of hunting/ the outdoors. Wonderful mix of historical pieces and modern discussions, all presented in a thoughtful, family friendly manner. 2. Working Class...

Hunting Bikers - was it worth it?

Is anyone familiar with the rules around E-bikes on public land in Indiana? Being a gear lover, I'd love to try one but I'm fairly certain the National Forest and State Forest tracts I hunt won't allow an ebike (or really any bike for that matter).

    Gear you liked/disliked 2024

My gear hanging system is something I've also considered changing. I currently girth hitch my linemans and hang my pack on the biner/ropeman 1, and also have the ITO Dewclaw hanger with the bow hook and three small hooks. I feel like I have too much stuff hanging off the tree.

    Gear you liked/disliked 2024

I upgraded my platform to the Latitude Rebel this season, and it was a huge upgrade from the boat anchor XOP Edge platform I used the two previous seasons I am doing much better with my EWO one stick by now (season still ongoing because I've passed on deer so far), but it was giving me issues...

    Howdy from Indiana

Welcome! I live south of Indy in Johnson county, and hunt mostly public down around Monroe and Brown counties.

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

Had a crazy busy week at work and didn't get a chance to tryout 2tc with my new Garda foot loop, so I did what every gear junkie moron like myself would do and left my stick at the car and gave it a shot in the dark this morning. I can see that it will work. I got up the tree, albeit slower and...

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

I was one stick climbing Friday morning, struggling to get my stick undone down by my ankles, and couldn't help by think about 2TC. This has to be easier than fooling with the one stick. That said, I had some REI giftcards collecting dust that have been repurposed into the gear to make a JRB...

Does it really take weeks for deer to get use to ground blinds, so they are not 'run and gun' effective?

Shoot them the first time they see it. I hunted out of a popup blind my first 7 years of hunting that I would pack in and out every sit. I hunted big woods hill country, and would not brush it in. The overwhelming majority of the deer I saw, never noticed the blind or me inside until my gun was...

    Movement times from cams

Bucks are daylighting in front of my cameras while I'm at work and the season opened yesterday. Lets hope they're still moving come Saturday when I get a chance to get out.

Setting Trail Cameras High, Height Poll

I've tried this, but you have to get a spot thats far enough from where they cross and close enough to still capture the pictures. I spent a whole season getting close up pictures of bellies and hindquarters due to placing one too close to the trail.

Setting Trail Cameras High, Height Poll

I hung 4 cameras yesterday, all between 3-5' high. We don't have bears or anything, and they are all in spots where I don't expect any real pressure to worry about them. I always got better pictures hanging them lower than the times I've tried to hang them up above my head.

What do you consider the most important out of these?

I'm conflicted on this one. On the one hand, I've tricked myself into not buying a new bow for the last few years because the Bear compound I got for $100 with the tags still on it from marketplace does the job. On the other hand, I regularly sink money into guns/ optics/ suppressors/...

New hunting tactics for this season

I was thinking about my post above this morning, and wanted to come back to make one more point. I don't want my post to come off as if I'm not excited with the 2 year olds that I've killed. I am still over the top pumped every time, but I also have enjoyed the opportunities I've had at bigger...

    Freezer filling

I buy the Indiana deer bundle license that gets you three tags for either one buck and two antlerless, or three antlerless across all of the open weapon seasons. There are also county specific bonus antlerless tags available all season, an urban/deer reduction zone program that can earn a buck...

New hunting tactics for this season

Lol. Let me introduce you to the 2 year old I used my only Indiana buck tag on last season. Once Archery season gives way to the Firearm season, I get an itchy trigger finger every year. I've killed a decent number of 2 year old 8pts on the firearm opener. Every year I say I'm going to wait, and...
