    Buying hunting land

so what about different financing options AND the prospect of a hunting property doubling as an investment, whether thru CRP, leasing for ag, or timber? anyone have any experience with these?

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

by bite I refer to the ability of a hitch to adhere to tree when unweighted. It annoys me when a tether hitch drops as soon as it’s unweighted, particularly in 2TC when you stand up and it starts falling. Like you said @gcr0003 on top tether I see this as a riskier option

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

Interesting. I may try that. I wonder if it bites the tree as well as other hitches.

Why don't yall 2TC? - ultralight rope technique

May I ask, what’s the deal with using a carabiner as link on tether rope? I somehow always thought that was technically ill-advised due to side loading the carabiner? Depends on rating of it?

    Buying hunting land

What would be reasonable expectations for # of spots for archery on 40-80 acres? What would you all look for walking a property?

Interesting Video (Deer Research using Thermal Drones)

This is interesting to me simply because I mainly hunt flat, FLAT ground down here - and so the science of Midwest whitetail hunting always feels a bit hard to reconcile. I will say, I think our deer bed in open woods more than I imagine and they are so able to hear/see threats coming that a...

Interesting Video (Deer Research using Thermal Drones)

    Buying hunting land

I guess to flesh this out a bit, my mom and sister live in central KY and would be within 2hrs of stated tract. The impetus is for our family to have usable land as opposed to the current holding of tillable land in N Indiana (which does butt up my uncles land, which has timber and is great...

    Buying hunting land

to be sure, i dont want nor expect to develop/manage some insane whitetail property. i would expect that I could ask for designated areas to remain undisturbed for hunting, possibly in the range of 40-60 acres, possibly more depending on the size overall (my sister works in environmental...

    Buying hunting land

My family (that is my in immediate family, not me only) are kicking around the idea of pooling together to buy a tract of land for hunting and recreating in KY. we currently hold, in conjunction with some extended family, a small tillable acreage in N Indiana (basically a crop field) that would...

    2025 fishing thread

alright have to ask - carolina rig, what is the deal with avoiding snags and losing tackle?? the canals I've been fishing seem to be littered with sticks, logs and all manner of crap that snag and break my line. is that my sign to NOT use that rig, or is there some technique for casting into...

    properly breaking shots

That release may be too big or not the right fit for me. I have it set as short as it will go - any recs on others to try?

    nebraska sandhills

NE is fantastic - I just love it. Drew another tag this year, statewide, hoping to get back in early Sept again.

It’s a single cam Bear bow, I don’t anticipate much improvement on that point!

    properly breaking shots

So I made a quick video demonstrating this issue and I think I see the culprit - which is that my index finger slides back and over the trigger release rather than engaging it as I pull. but I would still appreciate feedback if this is truly what the issue is. I use a B3 Outdoors Rival...
