    I requested them when I ordered the sticks. I'm 235lbs and the sticks did great for me this year. There is a slight bit of play on the step as noted by TN, but I really like the sticks.

    You can see the standoff depth is just over 4 inches. The only reason I stealth stripped them is because I was concerned about glare on sunny days.

    Tethrd One Stick Gen 3's - Season review so far

    My guess is that it was done to cover the scratches the tubes experienced when they tested the sticks. Seems like most people, myself included before I returned them, had sticks returned after testing that were scratched up pretty good.
