Need Help Choosing Caliber for New Rifle

The lead sled is great for getting a gun zeroed. Unfortunately that's a very small percentage of my shooting. The overwhelming majority is from various practical shooting/hunting positions. The sled sitting over on the bench does nothing to mitigate recoil in those situations. Also not a fan of...

Looking for info on pistol for whitetail hunting

I love taking different handguns into the deer woods. I've taken deer with a 10mm g20, .357 mag Ruger gp100, .44 mag Ruger super redhawk, and ar15 pistol in 6.8spc. The gp100 is a wonderful, affordable, effective revolver. The glock is great for quick follow up shots. The super redhawk is heavy...

    Nutterbuster Grinds His Meat

I got tired of running everything through twice. Went and got a quarter inch plate and have been happy with the results. Meat needs to be very cold to keep the fat from smearing. Helps to put ice packs on the head too.

    Nutterbuster Grinds His Meat

I only add fat if I know what I will be using the meat for in the future. Otherwise I add fat if need when I go to make something. If I'm making hamburgers I add beef fat so I can feel good about cooking them medium rare. I usually smoke a few cases of brisket every year so I save my trimmings...

    Nutterbuster Grinds His Meat

If you are going to use the grinder to stuff casings, get the foot pedal. If all you do is grind it is completely unnecessary.

    The No-Shame Thread

After reading about people on here doing it, I hunted in my crocs this year when possible. Must be some kind of magic in them because I shot my target buck that day. Using a butt out tool is harder than AP calculus to me. I use my shower head on a hose as a poor man's bidet. I saddle hunt...

Random Musings From Your Resident Contrarian and Underage Curmudgeon

Agreed. Part of the reason I started carrying a sharpie with me on wildlife management areas. I'm the kind of guy that takes down the unattended stands and leaves them at the bottom of the tree. Then I write a polite note on the stand asking the person to follow the rules. Screw in pegs don't...
