    Ladder stand?

I use old wooden ladder stands for my ladders up in the tree all the time. All private land, so I can leave them. Get to my top platform and attach my platform and step up onto it and set up and hunt. On private land, I try to have preset ways to get up in the tree as often as possible to simply...

    Hanging bow in tree

I leave it on, but also use a small, 3 arrow quiver that is pretty compact to start with.

    Prusik Handle

That is also why you should have a stopper knot at the end of your rope. That knot won’t go thru the rope man in the event of something bad as you mention. You’ll fall a bit, and may soil yourself, but won’t end up on the ground.

Let's vote (how do you pull your bow up)...

Same here. Bow clipped into my badlands pack and up I go. When all attached in the tree, pull the pack off and hang, then unstrap the bow and hang that on its own hook and clip in an arrow and release.

    Best cordless drill

I love my brushless Milwaukee fuel. If you have the big battery, one battery will last you a day setting up trees. You’ll likely be tired of climbing trees before she gives up. If you have the smaller battery, that’s a different story, you’ll want a second or possibly a 3rd in your bag...

    New platform

I’m not so sure social media has made it more mainstream, but what it has done for new saddle hunters is greatly reduce the learning curve when just starting. Without the aid of all the videos out there now, many in the past would give up when they couldn’t figure out many of the helpful tricks...

    John Eberharts Scent Control

This is a very complex discussion here. Yes, I go to extremes to minimize my scent levels. Dedicated room for my gear that is ozone treated, with washer and dryer for hunting cloths only. Anything that touches my skin will get washed after the hunt. Using carbon and zeolite powders, etc. Can you...

Heaterbody Suit, IWOM and now Blizzard Buddy

What about the Slumberjack thermal cloak? Same concept as the HBS/Iwom/blizzard buddy.

    Heater Body suit/ IWOM

What about the Blizzard Buddy or Slumberjack for other possible options? Anyone ever try either of these?

    Saddle only this year

I’ve sort of wondered if it was possible to use the HBS with a saddle or not. Love that for when it gets really cold

    Saddle only this year

I’m going into year one with a few setups for the saddle and the remaining being existing stands. The plan is to learn and work the kinks out of my setup this year and be almost exclusive saddle next year.

    Badlands superday pack

I didn’t get the pm, but did place the order this morning, I just didn’t have my wallet with me when I found the deal last night, same deal they had posted the link. At that price, they won’t stay in stock for long!

    Badlands superday pack

Yup, that’s where I found it (Midway) and it went thru, $100, no shipping cost either!

    Black Mantis Prototype

So much of hunting camo patterns and colors is based and designed around the humans eye and preconceived notion, it’s scary! Think like the prey, not the predator. When a deer looks up, what color do you think the trees look like? Blacks and grays! The beauty of the saddle is that we are just...

    Badlands superday pack

Anyone have any other input on this pack? I want to upgrade. This pack is actually cheaper than the pack I have, and I love everything about my current one, except 2 things....the zippers are loud and it has a “squeak” when it rubs against my jacket when walking in. Both are pretty minimal in...
