I absolutely love ice fishing. My favorite fishing next to chasing flatheads, blues and channel cats.

Tools of the trade.

Two rods on the Left are Fenwick for eyes and panfish and the 3 on the right are homemade catfish/big fish/ live bait rods

Homemade ice scoop from noodle bowl

Size 10 croc for reference

Tackle box fits in bucket as well

@Nosaj How much ice did you have. I'm in Southern Maine and we ain't got much. Maybe 4"
I have fished ice a few times in ME. One time I went to the Sabattus pike derby ( what a $#/! Show) and for several years we would go Ross Lake and fish with Don and Andrea at Ross L lake Camps. Three hours north west of Millinocket on the logging roads then a 4 mile snowmobile ride.

Yeah, the derby at Sabattus is a cluster but every year they yank a 20 pounder out of there or at least they used too. Haven't kept up with it since my bil passed as he used to fish it.

I used to have a full setup for ice fishing, but gave it up after a couple of close calls, that nearly put me in the water. o_O Now, I look at it like, "those fish ain't going no where, until I pull them out of the water" and I just wait for open water. :) I miss it, but would only chance it on a small farm pond that I knew was frozen enough to be on it.

I always thought the colors on the fish were more brilliant and they tasted better, when coming out of cold waters.
