    Debate: Treeing/corning an animal with dogs isn't hunting - convince me otherwise

    Its one animal vs another. Seems fair to me. I think most of the thrill comes from seeing the dog work, taking the shot is just your small part in the dog's chase. Why not use dogs? And whats the difference between a hound treeing a coon and a bird dog pointing a pheasant?

    Newbies need some advice

    I used a fleece saddle last year and am going to this year as well. I don't really feel the need to change it up but to be fair, I haven't used a commercial saddle to compare it to. Fleece is just fine to save money just don't skimp on the rope.

    Actually, every deer I've killed with a bow has been from the ground....but that's mostly because I only have one tree stand and never felt like carrying it with me to every new spot. Now that I've started saddle hunting, im hoping to change that.

    Achilles heel of the saddle system

    I've had a wedgie for 10 minutes now and can't lift my weight and keep my balance on my ros in order to fix it.....maybe saddles systems aren't as flawless as I initially thought....

    I've seen someone say not to tie amsteel. I was going to tie a water know or something to make a loop to do a girth hitch fo a fleece saddle. Is that asking for trouble? Why can't you tie amsteel? I know I can splice a loop but I don't have the tools yet.

    I cut some amsteel and tried to melt the end to keep it from fraying but it didn't work. How do you keep it from fraying? I just covered the ends with shoe goo for now. I'm new to this if you can't tell.
