Learned a very valuable lesson today
Glad you're ok. Good idea to keep steps of the stick close. I use my top step of the last stick at the same level as my platform so that i have another foot placement to get around the tree. Go Chiefs!- Wickster

Climbing Stick Hooks
I was looking for a good way to get my climbing sticks up the tree with me. Found these on Amazon and did a little DIY mod to them to make them serve my purpose. They end up being about 55 cents a piece. Cheers. -

DIY Platforms
These are some DIY platforms that I made out of some Big Game tree steps that I got a Menards for $10. I cut a piece of 1x8 and mounted it to the top of the step with some #14 1 1/2 inch sheet metal screws. Make sure you cut out the space between the step legs so that it does not "high-center"...
