Adopt a newbie saddle hunter program

I was reading over some of the recent safety posts and it got me thinking, what if there was an option to have an "adopt" a new saddle hunter program on this site? I would envision it as a well known member taking a new member (like me) under their wing for a season or two. I or other newbies could post our names and some general background info up in the "adopt" forum, thoughts?

Maybe this is already happening and I missed it?

Cool idea. Get hunters together and help get new guys into the woods. A well know member here let me try his stuff out before mine came in. I learned pretty quick setups are very different. His tips definitely helped me speed a few things up but at 45 it’s going to more of a learning curve than I’m used to. That being said I’ll be in a tree Tuesday morning for sure. Got saddle yesterday.

I really enjoy that , even the online version. But hands on is much better. I got a handful of young guys at my gym all setup, now their setups are dialed in. I’d definitely start w/ saddle hunter map & if not quite close enough then post up someone will reach out.

This is the best thing I've heard all year related to saddle hunting. We need a true mentor program where guys get connected to someone who can assist them with there saddle abilities...like this idea...and would contribute to launch spearhead such a program

Ok I’m game, if your in Maryland ( remotely near Baltimore) there are a decent core group of saddle hunters here. Would be happy to help folks out, if you want a bit more one on one that’s fine too. Just PM me I’ll see what I can do.... (it’s in season so you may end up with some on the job training.....)

I like this idea! There have been a bunch of "local" saddlehunter get togethers this year in several different states and these hands on type experiences go way further than just reading posts in a forum towards getting comfortable with gear. It also gives new guys opportunities to try things and methods to see if they are practical for them before falling down the rabbit hole of trying everything.

I'm game for it. Especially with me being a newbie myself and don't know but like one other person from upstate SC that saddle hunts. But so far I love it. Just got to get everything dialed in a lil more

I'm based in Nassau County, NY and bought a tethrd mantis saddle, predator platform and short for this season. I'm a newbie hunter and a big obstacle for new hunters is deciding what gear to invest in for the season and it's extremely difficult to 'try before you buy'.

I'm definitely down with this idea and although i can't 'adopt' another hunter since I'm still learning myself, what I do want to do is let people in my area try my gear out so that they can test things out before forking over hundreds of dollars on stuff. I'll do this once deer season is over so I'll post again in January to see who's interested in meeting up. Happy hunting y'all

I'll trade my saddle / tower climbing knowledge for hunting knowledge. I can get you up and down a tree safely. I just the world's worst hunter!
