advice for DIY saddle hunting practice w/o a tree

Hello,
I just got into saddle hunting and looking to practice a lot with by bow trying the different shots and creating muscle memory, so I would like to practice daily. The problem is that I dont have any trees in my backyard as I am in a subdivision and even the trees around my area are so new that they are only 6"-8" diameter. Not to mention Id probably get the cops called.

What I really want is something like a 10ft section of telephone pole that I can bury 2ft in the ground and concrete, but I cannot find this in areas near me. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can practice in my backyard without a tree?

I know telephone/ utility poles are rather slick and unsafe to climb. Im not looking to climb it. Im just looking to set my platform a foot off the ground and tether in to practice shooting.

Where are you located? You might be able to find someone near you with trees on their property. Plus, that person may help you thru the learning curve a little faster.
Have you checked the SH map?
 
No Im in TX. We dont have many/any basements here. Im also needing more wide open space in order to shoot my bow to a minimum of 20 yards

I have my parents 1 acre property 25 mins away that I have been practicing in, but Im looking for something that I can practice in daily or minimum every 2-3 days. So, I need it at my house. I havent checked that map but I will now. I was curious if there were anyone around me. Was going to post a meetup thread in a few months once all my gear arrives.
 
DaveT had a video where he set his helium sticks on a square metal post and they held. Depending on your platform type you can probably get it to tighten down on either a 4"x4" or 6"x6" wood post. Buy a 10' treated post and set it in your yard. If your platform wont work on the square face buy a 2x4 and build a platform on the side of the post of similar dimensions.

yea I went to my local hardware store(lowes) today and looked at lumber and saw 4x4 and 6x6 posts. I have the predator platform. I need to measure the standoffs and see if they would work on a 6x6. My only concern with using my platform and tether on a square piece of wood is that it may fray/rub the rope or strap or put weird stress on them by not being round. Probably a Non-issue but just being anal I suppose. Im more worried abt my tether slipping bc it wouldnt get a good cinch on a square item I would think.
 
I also have considered screwing in heavy duty Eye-bolts at my preferred tether height and just clipping into that. If i were to go the square shaped wood route.

Just an off the wall idea...
Do you have access to a saw mill near you? You could bring a log home or even get some slabs and lag them to a 6x6. You could kinda make a square post sorta roundish.

I havent looked for one, but one idea I have had is to take four 4x4's and use brackets/screws to stack them into a bigger 8x8 post then trying to figure out how to round the edges.

Chain saw, spoke shave, draw knife, all will work. Just be careful to use minimal fasteners. Once you get it shaped, then you can add more fasteners.
