Aluminum Tubing for Sticks

Anyone know if any of the big box stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc) carry 1x1 tubing suitable for sticks?

I know DanO has some but I only need enough for a single stick so once I add in shipping it basically doubles the cost so would like to find a local option if possible.

Look up local machine/sheet metal shops.....they may sell some that way

The stuff at Lowes is 6063 aluminum. I made a platform post from it but I added 6063 angle bracket to both sides for strength.

Try a place called the Metal Supermarket. They are a chain that have locations all over the place.

The big box stores are all 6063 and you really want 6061 for strength. Let me know what else you need and I can manually figure out what the shipping will be to see if I can do any better.

Looks like I have one of them a little over an hour away. Wouldn't be worth making the drive just for the tubing but we end up in the area from time to time so that might work out.

You don't have to do that, I'm sure it's not cheap to ship, just wish I thought of it when I made my other orders!

I've gotten it from metal supermarket. Not sure if the store near you will stock 6061 but mine didnt. All they carried was 6063. I bought it anyways cause it was so cheap. However like dan-o said 6061 is stronger. They said their supplier doesnt carry 6061. Something to keep in mind.
