Went out prepping trees yesterday..... Decided to carry 4 ameristeps on a boat buckle..... like I used to use.

Was reminded very quickly why I stopped using them... totally worthless on irregular shaped trees ( not round), trees with rough/large barked or soft barked trees. They shifted over and over as I "walked around on them prepping shooting lanes.

Will never go back to them for hunting. They work OK on perfectly round, hard /smooth barked trees but have a major suck factor on trees I tend to hunt. Love my Predator platforms.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I hear you on this. This was my exact experience with squirrel steps. I bought a full system of 5 with the ocb buckle and cam that thing til I bust a blood vessel and they just don't work for me on thick bark trees. I'm hunting pre sets for the most part this year so I just leave the squirrel steps home and use bolts and a micro platform and love that setup. No rolling/shifting and still easy to set up.
