How do the amsteel daisy chains work for tree with fine or thin bark. I am not a horticulturist so I cannot tell you what type of tree it is, but the bark looks similar to a honeysuckle branch but obviously much larger. I had a lot of issues with WE steps slipping on these trees so I bought a few sticks to try. But I am curious if I need thick bark for the amsteel to bite or if it will work on any tree. I did try the search but didn't find what I was looking for. Sorry if this has been posted before.

I think the standoffs are more of the factor in the grip for the sticks than the attachment method. Seems to work like a linemans belt to squeeze them to the tree. Amsteel daisy chain works great on every tree I've tried. I'd expect a little damage to soft thin barked trees though but I doubt you'll get away from that with any brand of sticks. If the hole doesn't line up just right on your daisy chain for the versa button to fit you can rotate the stick to the 1:00 or 2:00 position to get a little more then roatate it back to 12:00 for a snug fit against the tree.
