So im venturing into splicing finally tired of bulky ropes for bridges. I have 100 feet of amsteel got a sick deal from a friend!!

Im looking to make a 28” bridge (finished length). Just need to know if my calculations are on point.

28” bridge
Plus 8” for the loops
Plus a 10” bury

This gives me 64” or roughly 5.33 ft for a total starting piece. Anyone see something that i am missing??

Good deal on amstel, thats always nice! I've only done one of these so take this with a grain of salt, lol. I was shooting for 24" and started with 48", but I didn't want big loops, I ended up with 22", I also didn't think/know I was supposed to taper the ends before the bury, but for a bridge that will be rolling through a carabiner that may be critical.

Good luck!

Im gonna give it a shot i kinda drew it out so im hoping for no waste but we will see.

are you doing locked Brummell on both sides, and using a carabiner to attach? To saddle

No locked Brummell on one end and ill lock stitch the other side. Until the mantis arrives fully complete ill be going with my kestrel just shedding the weight on the bridge.

It doesn’t look hard to do im just figuring out the starting amount.
