Hello from MD. Another new guy wanting to try saddle hunting. Watched a bunch of G2's videos on YouTube and thought I got to give this a try. I hunt mostly public land and thought this would allow me to get away from the crowd. Seems everybody wants to hunt close to the vehicle because of carrying a heavy stand. I was one of them. Seems saddle hunting would allow me to go farther without the weight. I took the plunge and ordered a Mantis. After reading so much on this forum I thought man I got to do something in the mean time as the Mantis sounds like its going to be awhile. I ordered and RC harness and a sit drag to use in the mean time. This is the best site I have found for the DIY. You guys give out a wealth of information and I for one appreciate that.

Don’t do it. There is no deer worth the monies you will spend once @g2outdoors sucks you down the rabbit hole.

Welcome aboard. Best way to hunt, and safest way to be in a tree. I just got in from an afternoon sit. NO deer were harmed.

Welcome! Where in MD are you from?

GCTerpfan, I'm from Cecil county. Thats the other end of the state. On the Delaware line. I'd rather be from your part of the state. I have a buddy that has property out there. I get there a few times a year to hunt Savage state forest and fish Deep Creek lake. Beautiful part of the state.

I hunt Savage a little bit myself. I live 10 minutes from Deep Creek but haven't fished it in years. It's kind of funny that I live that close and I just bought a lot at Lake Anna Va and do my only fishing down there.

Welcome to the Saddle journey, one thing that I can assure you is that it won't stop with the sit drag and the Mantis.

Welcome Mark! I'm also in Cecil county. I just started saddle hunting 2 years ago and it's the only way I hunt now. There is a little learning curve at first. My first season was spent learning the system and missed alot of shots. This season is different, it like I have been saddle hunting my whole life. If you ever want to try my saddle out, let me know. I'm just 6 miles south of Elkton.
