Anybody out squirrel hunting?

yeah it's still awfully hot and humid for deer - highs in the mid-80s. not good for deer hunting. luckily our rut isn't until late Dec/early Jan so still plenty of deer hunting. I'd like to keep at the squirrels, though, it's a fun way to get out in the woods and come home with something to eat.

I know hunting early season on the Gulf Coast sucks but I've had decent success hunting those early weeks when the woods are still quiet. The deer may not be super active but there's not many people out there stomping around either. By late October early November I start seeing more and more people in the woods scouting and getting ready for the pumpkin brigade.

My business is still busy then so I don't get to hunt very much early but take every chance I can even though it means sitting in the stand sweating :D

so for my deep south dudes: do squirrels eat cypress seeds? starting to fallheavy down here and just curious if squirrels are in that habitat.

Yes skwerl will cut cypress balls and you will only cook them in the house one time. And you will have to buy a new skillet. Best not to hunt them in cypress trees.
You gonna have to flesh this one out for me, I’m not following on why not to hunt them in cypress??

I got a limit in KY Christmas Eve morning while doing some deer scouting. Headed back out this afternoon to try and do it again.
What weapon? Nice limit of grays! definitely my preferred for eating.
