I have been deer hunting for 30 years. I started saddle hunting in 2007 (maybe 08, can’t remember for sure). My first saddle kill was out of a DIY. I have had: TreeSuit, DIY, GW, and 3 different Original TrophyLines (I still have all 3 of those).

Anyway, life and raising kids happened and I really didn’t hunt for the last 6 or so years.

We are empty nesters now and I’m excited to be back in the woods.

I went out this morning for my third sit of the year and was able to take a nice doe from my TL Ambush.

It was really foggy and rainy all morning. I shot her at 8:45 at a hard quartering away and the arrow did not exit. I decided to give her an hour before tracking and 20 minutes later a tall 6 point walked right under me. I drew back on him, but decided to let him walk because I didn’t know if I was going to have a long tracking job ahead of me with the doe.

In the end, the doe had only made it about 75 yards and died at a really easy place to drag her out.

I’ll be going to the woods every chance I get this year. So glad to have found Saddle Hunter Forum, too. There was never a lot of people interested in saddle hunting back in the days of Archery Talk. Maybe 15-20 of us that were hardcore saddle guys.

Way to go! I too have been a bow hunter close to 30 years but I just recently discovered saddle hunting. I had more or less started to loose interest the last couple of seasons but saddle hunting has rekindled my desire to bow hunt. So much so that I bought a sit-drag and a handy sticher and built my own saddle. The first sit I made out of the sit-drag I took a doe and let me tell you It's on now! This was first time in years i have drew back on a deer that wasn't a mature buck. I think I was more pumped up over that doe than anything I seen or even had on camera the last two years. I just ordered a new Trophy Line Ambush and can't wait to put it to use. Congrats again and good luck to you with the rest of your season.

welcome back wondered what had happened to you

welcome back wondered what had happened to you

It’s all good. Our daughters played National travel and then college volleyball, so our weekends were super hectic for several years. I’m back with renewed passion now.
