First post! I hunted out of a saddle (Trophyline neoprene and mesh) for years and killed one of my best bucks out of one with a muzzleloader. Back then, the saddle hunting community was pretty small and resources were scarce. With all the new information and gear out there, I had to take the plunge again. I ordered a Mantis the other day and I'm pretty excited to see how it compares to my old Trophyline saddles (which were nice but bulky). I'm 6'3" 230lbs and originally ordered a L but switched to an XL. I hope that was that right move.
I'm on the fence about a platform. I'm hunting primarily private land and can use screw-in steps. Is the comfort and functionality of a platform worth the money? The only options when I hunted out of a saddle were screw-in steps and the Ameristep ROS.
I'm excited to join this community and love how far saddle hunting has come!
