Best strap solution for Ridge Runner?

UPS brought my new ridgerunner last night and I want to try it out today. I was a bit surprised it came without a strap. I have read amsteel daisy chain or Versa strap are options.

Would a regular buckle strap like the type that comes with helium sticks work ok?

If you own a ridge runner I would love to hear what strap style you prefer.

Thanks!

The helium strap is fine

I use a versa mini strap on my ridge runner. Works like a charm every single time. I have never used the cam buckle it came with

I'm still waiting to get my Ridge runner, but I imagine I'll probably pick up a versa mini strap as well.

I would. The versa straps are great. To use one of a ridge runner all you gotta do is cam the platform downward instead of upward and it gets TIGHT. Does not move at all

DPennington: You are correct, they mistakenly forgot the strap and it's on it's way. In the meantime I will play with the Helium strap.

A couple of other questions for those experienced saddle hunters....

Does the mini versa have any advantages over Amsteel daisy chain other that the fact that the daisy chain takes some time to make?

Secondly, would a OCB boat buckle make any sense? I happen to have one of those.

I have a ridge runner and versa minis on order. Good to know I can ditch the strap and buckle and use the versa mini. Thx!

Check out DIYSportsman. He did a YouTube video comparing them. I believe the benefit of strap is that you can twist it for better fit if it is between loops. It so with amsteel daisy chain.

I've found the standard strap and buckle works well although there is the small additional weight vs. mini versa or amsteel. I know folks like the OCB buckle for steps. How about using that for a platform?

I’ve been using the ridge runner with an old lone wolf strap. Are you using the mini versa just to avoid bulk and noise of the buckle? I’m interested in the idea just didn’t think it would get the ridge runner super tight since it doesn’t cam like most platforms

Yeah I use a mini versa because there's no potential for noise and it weighs nothing. I can get the ridge runner every bit as tight with a versa strap as I can with a cam strap
