Best way to set your platform?

After trying out the platform yesterday I’ve found it best to set my platform to my left side once I get up to feet hunting height, set one more climbing step so I can pull myself up to actual hunting height, tether in, then step over to the platform.

What method does everyone use to set, and get onto the platform?

Thanks all,
DATM

I'm inconsistent. I usually dont know until I set the last step. I usually go up, but sometimes go down. If I'm going up, I just step up. It isn't much higher.

In a perfect pre set for me, I like to set my assassin about one step up on my left. I usually only carry enough steps to get me to the platform height and not above. Although I can see how that could make a person feel more comfortable making the transition from steps to platform, I'm sure it would be safer. I consider my self a little lazy sometimes by just carrying in the bare minimum to get me at hunting height. But like you I do tend to by habit place the platform to my left.

Depends on my platform and climbing method, but with sticks and a Ernie Platform, I'll set it up and to the left of my last stick.

My LW strap buckle is on the right hand side of my platform. If I set the platform to the right of my climbing stick, the buckle is on the wrong side.

With the new saddle hunter platform, installed buckle orientation won't matter. You can install left or right easily.

I decide what side of the tree I want to be hunting from, being a lefty I then go a 1/4 turn to the left and climb. Get to hunting height, set my platform off to the right of my climb. Step up after tethered in (for you G2). But it took me a few times to figure this out lol. I was so used to climbing the tree on the side I wanted to hunt always using a climber. I then set up my gear, camera arm if I’m filming, gear hanger, etc the pull up my bow, then of all goes well shoot a 150” double drop tine stud ... ( hasn’t happened yet lol)

“About one step up” is this about chest level for your platform while installing?

Makes sense. Are you at around chest or waist level with your platform while installing as you stand on the bottom rung of your highest climbing stick?

Any pics of this saddlehunter platform? Is this something new I am not familiar with?

Still attempting to come up with my ideal setup.

I’m assuming he means the “Erinie’s Platform” but not sure.....just had a couple stiff drinks at the bar

This is my thought exactly. Maybe climb a 1/4 to the right of where I actually want to hunt

I set my platform about 18" above my last climbing stick step. That's a comfortable step for me.

If you put your elbow on your top step and put your hand flat against the trunk, attach your platform at the top of your fingers. That should be a comfortable step for every person.

Thanks BassBoysLLP,
Which forum to follow for latest information on this project?
Nothing specific on the forum. I'm sure Ernie will start a thread once everything gets closer to production.
