Ameristeps with the step in the middle?
OR
API style angle steps with the step on the bottom?

Can't tell you anything about the ameristeps, but the API aluminum steps kind of slide out like a pendulum with side pressure.

I think step in the middle is stronger. In terms of use I haven't spent enough time trying the ones with the step on bottom. That's @redsquirrel main platform. He'd have a good opinion probably l.

Ameristeps work well. My golden buck steps work well. What they have in common is that the distance between the strap connection and where you place your foot is not the full step. The API steps have the strap connection at the top and step at the bottom and aren't as stable.

So from left to right? Ameristeps, API, Golden Buck? Or do I have the API and the Golden Buck backward

You have them switched. Ameristeps, golden buck, APO. My favorites are the gold bucks. I have 6 of them that don't have the slot cut. 5 of them are my mobile platform. You will not find a smaller, lighter, more mobile platform.

Hey Red - with the golden bucks, are you able to put the strap on the tree (without steps) and then slide the steps onto the strap? Or do you install them just like an ameristep platform where they are already on the strap?

Thanks.

You could if you kept the strap loose enough to get them in.

I have a set that doesn't have the slot in them that I use just like ameristeps. They pack up nice and small and they stay on the strap. The other ones will pop off the strap occassionally.

Red,
What do they measure? Length? Width? Thickness?

Now you're asking a lot lol. I can't remember the specifics so I'll check when I get home. Bump this if I forget. I think they are 3.24 ounces each though.
