Ok so I'm 6'5 and 270 pounds. Would saddle hunting be safe for me lol. I know in past years some stand locations have been difficult for me due to my size. Kinda hard to look inconspicuous being that big sitting lol. But seriously any and all advice would be great.

My advice, go right to the source. Call the various saddle companies and collect data. There are guys on here of your proportions but I always say get the data from the source. As for the ropes that shouldn't be an issue. Back in my warrior days there was a Bautista sized guy on my team and he made tinkerbell look like a flying pig.

Yeah no problem, just don’t go minimalistic & you’ll be comfortable.

I really appreciate all the help. Im going to give it a shot I'm looking for a set of climbing sticks and saddle now. Will definitely be doing my research.

I am 6'1 275. I feel more safe in my saddle than I do in a lock-on. I am currently running the Tethrd Mantis and a DIY lone wolf seat platform. I rarely hang from my saddle but I have occasionally on long sits. The only think I don't use is the rope man 1 on my tether. I stick with a prusik but thats just a preference thing. Saddle hunting has changed the way I hunt completely and honestly its a lot more fun hanging out in a tree from a saddle than a regular old tree stand.

I was 6’1” 298lbs at the end of last season. My size was a non issue. Surely I wasn’t as comfortable as I could have been but that could be said about any stand also. The commercial saddles that have actually been tested are not the weak point in anyone’s system so if you can safely climb a tree you can safely hunt from a saddle.

6'2" and and 270 (give or take what I ate for dinner the night before). I would agree with some of the other posters in that I feel more safe in a saddle then i do in a hang-on. That being said, it is still a few minutes of "is this rope going to hold me" for the first few minutes of every sit as I (re)inspect everything and still consider myself a "newb". Even had enough room on the RR to wear my Icebreaker Boot Insulators for my sz 13 Cabelas pac boots (I get cold feet easily). Running a stock Aerohunter Kestrel with Beast Sticks and Ridge Runner... even handled all my gear for an all day sit gun hunting (just shy of 12 hrs).

Buy my Trophyline XL Green's Tree Saddle Deluxe Leather Tree Saddle, I think it would be perfect for you. It is a bit big for me, but extremely comfortable. It comes with everything you need except a climbing method.

What's your waist size? This is for 38" and up.

We're close to the same size and that was a concern of mine as well. I've been using a Kestrel for the past two seasons and have had zero safety issues. Fits like a glove once I got my settings right and can use the tree as cover to hide my big outline. Bridge length and tether placement were the biggest factors as far as comfort for me. Have done over 30 all day sits this year and love it. Would have laughed if you told me I would like it better than my old Alpha but the more I use it the better I like it
