Bow Choice For Saddle Hunting

I have a Matthews HTR and a Matthews switchback. In my opinion, they are smooth bows that shoot quite well. I don’t really like the new stuff that I have shot.

I bought a Switchback XT this season. Light and smooth.

I have a switchback xt too! I didn't realize what I was buying at the time, impulse purchase mostly for my first bow

There are guys on here shooting recurves and longbows from their saddles. No compound bow you find will be longer ATA than a recurve is tip-to-tip.

You might find that, say, you can comfortably handle 70# all day on the ground, but in an awkward position from a tree 65# or even less is more comfortable, and you can thus hunt with it more confidently. You don't have to impress the Instagram archery bros with how much weight you're pulling, just shoot it well.

I have used my 37” ultratecs, down to my 31” alien X out of the saddle. On the ground or in the air, I like 33 plus inches. My Mach 34 makes the cut by an inch! And my Xpedite at 33”.
