My wife is thinking about getting into bow hunting. What would be a good bow to start her career of showing me up in another activity? Her draw length is 25 in. I was looking at the bears that can change the draw weight from 5-70 lbs. let me know if y’all have any wisdom

I got a young guy I mentored set up with one of the adjustable bears from bass pro. He was driving nails at 30 yards in no time.

I also bought my wife a PSE women’s bow back in 2010 or 2011. It’s better than any bow I’ve ever owned. And at 45 lb it was shooting faster than my Parker set at 70.

If you want to spend money, I like the pse. If you want to get into it for cheap, you simply cannot beat the bear bows.

Do you know the model name of the PSE bow?

PSE chaos. It’s disgusting looking, lol! Bright pink. I think it was basically the female version of the x force.

Haha ok. Maybe I can find it in another color. She is not a fan of the “pink it and shrink it” mentality of outdoor brands

That’s exactly how I would describe it. Pink it and shrink it. But it’s a sweet shooter!

I got my daughter a mission hype dt, for Christmas. I was less than $500 all in its impressive! Look up the specs it’s really adjustable (you wouldn’t need all the draw length adjustment but it’s got a big weight range) just throwing out another option. Plus if she gets into it & upgrades down the road you have a youth bow or could sell it.....

I would personally take her to a trusted pro shop and have her fitted to a draw length specific bow, IMO there is just too much mush at anchor with a high adjustment one size fits all bow.

Don’t know how tall your wife is.Be careful in getting her a youth bow or something for smaller framed archers if she is fairly tall. You don’t want her to have something that looks like a tinker toy in her hands.Fit is everything not just with drawlength.

Thanks everyone. She’s 5’3. We went to a pro shop yesterday and had a lesson and shot for a while. She enjoyed it and said “I could see getting excited about killing a deer with a bow”.

I was trying to get someone to talk about what we need to look for and buy, but they weren’t necessarily helpful. Sort of like my experience in gun shops. Anyway thank y’all for for the input. I can see getting an adjustable one getting into it. We have a four and a six year old that are chomping at the bit to get a “real bow”

Her draw length is gonna be about 25 inches.Find her something in the 40 to 50lb range.Three girls in my house about that size. They are from 5’0 to 5’3 and all three shoot different bows.Wife shoots a 50lb Hoyt Viper Oldest daughter shoots a 40lb Browning Micro Midas 3 and the Baby girl shoots a 50lb Diamond Edge. For the money the Diamond is a great little bow with adjustment from 18” to 28” Hope this helps
