Bow string replacement

Hey everyone! How often do you replace your bow string?

I have the same one on my Elite that it came with 3 years ago and I wax it regularly.

I ask, because I don't think it's safe to just keep going year after year if I'm pressing my luck with the integrity of the string.

Any info will be appreciated!

If there's any frays, cuts, etc, it's best to change it out. There isnt really a set guideline on how long they last, as weather exposure and all sorts things wear your string.

If you've shot the same string for 3 yrs, and think its wearing out, better to replace the string than risk injury or damaging the bow

Thanks man

I've had the same string on my bow since 2011... Just haven't got around to replacing it yet, I keep it waxed and its still in good shape but its time for a new one.

Check all the servings especially around cams. If you see any serving separating Id replace it. Strings and cables can be a tough call on when to replace. Also depends what material they are and the life of the bow. How are the strands ? If pretty frayed despite waxing regularly I’d replace them. I get around 2-3 years on a set. The bloodline seems to be a bit tougher. Going on 3 years with a set and they look great still and spec out.

How do u spec out? Measure limb to limb and ensure no stretch?

measure brace height , ata , ata left vs right for cam lean if it’s a yoke system. Might I add this isn’t always helpful depending on how the bow was originally set. I have my own tools so I know what everything was set at to begin with and can monitor for changes.

Getting to the meat of the issue, why do you think your string is going bad, what do you see that concerns you, and it might help if you upload a pic so more experienced individuals can see if they spot an issue

Everything still looks good. I have an Elite Energy 32 with all original cables and string. I will go over it again and double check. Thanks for the info

The bow is all original and setup the same as when it left the factory. I will probably just take it to my local shop where I bought it and have them give it a once over. I'm lucky. I have a great local shop that won't just sell you stuff to make money. They take care of their people and their people spread the work. Support local!
