Chopped up a good set of WE ropes after hearing that amsteel will bite harder into pines. Gonna give that a test run Monday setting out a couple cameras! First time messing with splicing amsteel. Good stuff for sure! Looks much easier to bury in videos

You cut them lol?? They are spliced like amsteel.

Yeah I mean I honestly don't plan on putting them back on. I've been told the amsteel bites better on pines and pines are dominant in East Texas. So if they still don't work for me like I want, I'll just sell them as a set or put them up and just use them on scouting trips. I only cut two. Probably can't get much lighter for hanging a few trail cameras on public land.

Haha ok! I’ve been tempted to try this mod to see the difference but haven’t gotten around to it.

I just replaced my stock rope with 3/16” amsteel. Holds up just fine. No issues yet after a 3 practice climbs.

However, I did save the WE rope instead of cutting it. I was surprised at how little bury there was. One was 4” at most.

I went 1/4" on the amsteel for mine for no particular reason. But I just didn't feel like I was ever going to go back to them. Even if I decide to sell them which I probably won't. I don't imagine anyone will have an issue with amsteel modded wild edge steps.

How do you unbury a rope? I've been looking for a video on this for a while

The WE ripe was easy. Just took some pliers, bloused the WE rope up and worked it out until I could get a finger hold on it.

Not sure about amsteel with locked Brummels. My guess is same way but more difficult without damaging.

Thanks for the info. I got a double braid rope and I'd like to try and undo one of the splices. I've spent way too much time trying to google how to do that with no results. it's an odd feeling when you google something and can't find an answer lol
