Can of worms.

The fanatic lite stuff is decent, I have a set, but if I had to do over again, I may look into the status set as the fanatic lite didn't have gore tex and i'll feel a good wind if blowing enough. But feature wise, love the full zipper and full hand muff pocket in front.

If you have a $500 budget, take a look at Gray Wolf Woolens. I have some clothes from them that are going on 20 plus seasons and are still in great shape.

I'm a fan of my first lite gear. Catalyst pants are awesome. I also have the Kiln pants and Klamath Hoody. They have a great website and customer service has been great thus far.

It's good gear but it's not entirely wind/waterproof. Their rain gear line is pretty spendy and I haven't been able to try it yet.

I also have the sanctuary set but I don't think you'll ever need that type of warmth.

I grabbed the stratus set of jacket and bibs. Now. If it wasn’t the spring I’d toss them in and climb. I need to go find some woods near here with better climbing options that the one tree in my backyard. It’s too big. I mean it works. Just not real world. I got time. I got 1 stick and repel set up. And nowhere to climb. Plus it was 87 yesterday and too warm to wear Sitka anything. Ha.

I saw a set of what looked like the woolins stuff in here for sale not long ago. Might have been something else with similar pattern.

I had a fanatic jacket (I'm in Northern Illinois and it does get cold here) and I got rid of it.I found that at low temps (20 and under) it got noisy. Whatever the windproof membrane in it is seemed to get stiff and make noise. Not good in a $400 jacket. It was warm though.
