Choosing the right bow for a first time hunter (12yo son)

my brother has one of these maxed out in both dimensions, weight and draw length, and kills a lot of deer with it
Yea my wife is a little lady (24” draw) and she can barely pull back 40 lbs but she gets good penetration with her arrow set up

At his specs I would stay at the high adjustable bows. He will most likely grow a bit it both weight and length. He will blow through weight if he shoots a bit. There are some really nice options for him. I would keep things simple to start with. Whisker Biscuit, 3 pin sight and a reliable release.

Yes that seems like the consensus. He already has a true fire patriot release he's been using with his accubow trainer so we are going to stick with that for now I think.

I'd like to thank everyone for you're help and input. Definitely helped

It’s hard to beat a bear g2 cruzr for kids. The draw weight can go down to like 20 lbs and all the way up to 70, and the draw length can adjust from like 22” up to 30”. It’s not even 4 lbs and it’s only like 30” from axle to axle….
Down to 5 pounds up to 70

My first bow was bear cruzr....I still have it as the backup/wife's bow.

So just to update everyone...sorry for the delay. He decided on the Bear Cruzer G2. He tried I think 7 or 8 different ones and that was what he liked best.

I must say the guy at bass pro was awesome He spent about 3 hours helping us choose, setting the bow up and then took Him in the range for about 45 min and helped him with his form and coached him a lite which was nice.

And I can't keep him out of the back yard shooting. Lol. Thanks again to everyone who helped out.

My son is 9 and I've had him shooting a recurve since he was a toddler. He's been back and forth with it between playing sports pretty much year round. He comes with me to all the local 3d shoots and will be going with me to the PA tac event this year. I keep him with a flu-flu arrow for long shots and then we move up and he shoots around 10 yards. When he's ready to get serious I will get him a compound but for now it's all about making it fun and keeping him interested. I found for kids nothing is more fun then letting a flu-flu rip from 60 yards.

I have the quest centec, super adjustable, my 12 year old shoots it. Goes up to 30’ dare and up to 70lbs so it’ll grow with him.
