I started a bowhunter15 inspired stick build. I started with some tubing from original lone wolf sticks cut them down to 24" then used 3/8" aluminum plate for steps and brackets. I teach ag at a vocational school and the welding teacher cut the steps and brackets out for me the steps worked out great but brackets are boat anchors as is in the pics it's just under 3 pounds I swapped the lone wolf brackets from my other sticks on and got the weight to 2 pounds even not as light as bowhunter15 but I currently have less than $20 in it not counting the lone wolf brackets I already had and for the same weight of my stock lone wolfs I have a double step which I like way better. I'm gonna try to refine it a little further and may build another set of brackets but more than likely I will just buy more lone wolf ones because I don't think I can make something that works as good.

I saw a mod to the Lone Wolf sticks a while back where the guy made two sided steps and just replaced the original LW steps with the two sided steps. They didn't fold up, of course, but they sure improved the LW sticks.

You left way to much metal in the steps. IMO
I would also take the nut off the front side of the stick and Sind a spacer the right length and use nylon loc washers.

If you end up buying brackets you might want to look at the XOP stand off brackets, they are longer thus put the stick further from the tree and allow more space for your foot between the tree and step.

I don't disagree I can shave some weight off there.

Longer would be better do they still nest together the same way lone wolfs do.

If you do another set I would use 1/4 inch bolts for fifth step bolts instead of 5/16. If you can’t find another spacer the right length you should be able to find a roll pin that you can cut to length. Looks good. I way overbuilt everything I have made. That’s why I usually just buy them.
