For those of you that quarter your deer out what do you think the most cooler space (upper limit) you would possibly need for an entire deer assuming shoulder mount and all

Shoulder mount? That's a big cooler to hold all that. How big of a deer and how big of a set of horns?

I usually can get a whole deer in a 50 quart cooler easily. The Cape and head fit too, you just have to leave the lid open. I'd rather not carry and store a cooler big enough to hold ice, meat, and antlers. Sooner go with 2 smaller ones.

Cape and head is what I meant sorry .

Planning an out of state trip so leaning towards running two coolers, just looking for some sort of ballpark idea. Always have plenty of help recovering deer back home so never really had to quarter one out

As has been mentioned on other threads recently, you might not be able to legally transport quarters across state lines due to CWD concerns (nor should you, even if you don’t mind skirting the law). With that in mind, you would probably do better taking two mid-sized coolers for transporting the deboned meat and cape instead of one big cooler capable of storing multiple bone-in quarters.

Yeah correct thanks for calling this out (not legal in Pennsylvania), I’m looking at this to preserve the animal overnight if needed as this will be an early season hunt.
I also drive an SUV so this would be the preferred way of transporting the animal in state

I have an Ozark trail 100qt for this purpose, but it is on the big side. It should be able to fit in a SUV though?

Yeah I use an igloo 110qt and I have a hitch hauler from harbor freight. Fits like a glove. 63685BC1-839B-4DF1-8CB7-6FC1232A5ED8.jpeg

125qt fits a lot of meat.... i can usually fit couple animals inside

I have a 45qt RTIC cooler that fits a small to medium sized deer fine. The last buck I killed I tried to put in that cooler because it holds ice longer but I couldn't get the whole deer to fit comfortably with ice. I ended up using my 100qt but it was way too big for 1 deer. I'm thinking a 60-75qt would be optimal for 1 deer.
