Couple random newbie questions....

I successfully had my first climb using my brand new Mantis and set of 12 Wild edge steps to climb and for my platform. I can't wait for October 1st! I do have a few random questions on how I should tweak up a few things though:

1) With the WE steps, my bag holds all 12 and is pretty tight with how full it is. Has anyone done anything to silence these? I've seen people using camp vet tape to silence other things...what else would work? Also, if I do use some type of tape...will I likely have to take out one step since the steps won't fit in the bag all together anymore?

2) On a few Tethrd videos I've seen people store their entire saddle setup in some type of carry bag. My mantis and ropes didn't come with any type of bag. Will the SYS hauler or the hauler ES-I currently have both on order- do the trick for packing up my entire Mantis saddle setup? If not-what can I use for this purpose?

3). I have also ordered the HYS strap and HYS pro pack (hooks) to hang things? Can I use this strap and these hooks to hang just light accessories, or can I use this for my backpack and bow too? I think I was watching a youtube channel from G2 Outdoors (?) and he had some tips on handmaking a daisy chain strap to hang a bow and accessories...and then a similar setup with a prussik for his backpack alone. I was wondering which style would be lighter/better. Also, where can I find good hooks for accessories and my bow?

TIA for any tips!

I use vet tape on the WE stepps on the swuare tubing, except where the ropes tie.

A Mantis would fit in a SYS hauler, but usually I wear my Mantis into the woods and have SYS haulers on either side holding my ropes and other items.

If you have a HYS strap, the clips you ordered will probably hold your pack. Otherwise, a hook or carabiner for a backpack is not hard to find. A climbing carabiner would be overkill, but never bad to have an extra. Otherwize Niteize has lots of options.

To answer your question to #1 about the WE stepps, I wrapped mine in camo vet tape and they all kinda fit in the bag, the top one is sticking out the top a little tho and the zipper is really hard to shut all the way. But they are pretty loud if you leave them how you got um. I also sprayed foam insulation, the windows and door type inside the square tubing that seamed to help a little

No need to make a daisy chain for your gear. You can get one from doublesteps.com for cheaper than you can buy the webbing for. 6.99 is what I paid I believe.

I am new to saddle hunting this year and I also have a Mantis. Our season started Sept.1st so I've already been out a few times. I think the Mantis is comfortable enough to wear in and out of the stand. When I'm done hunting and it's not all all sweaty, I just throw it in my backpack I use for water, hunting knife, light etc. I dont have WE steps but I wrapped my Lone Wolf sticks in coban/vet wrap "poweflex" brand from Tractor Supply Co. As far as a gear hanger, I just use paracord with two loops knotted in each end, girth hitch around the tree then use a truckers hitch knot to keep it tight. Cheap and efficient. Plenty of videos showing a truckers hitch if youre not familiar. You can then use s-biners or carabiners hanging off the cord to hang your gear. I started out carrying a truck load of gear into the field but lightened things up a lot as time went on, you'll figure out soon what you need and don't. I think since saddle hunting is so new to many of us a lot of manufacturers are taking advantage of that and pushing gear that isn't necessarily needed. Keep it simple, good luck and have fun!

I used the HYS strap this weekend for the first time. The hero clip held my bow and I used a carabiner for my pack. Strap was solid and I wouldn't hesitate putting more stuff on it.

I wear my saddle in and have a
SYS hauler (ES) that stores my HYS strap, tether and linemans belt. It works well for me.
