Cut up original LW or sell and buy predator?

So I’ve not yet hunted out of a saddle but I will have one coming in shortly. I have an original LW sandcast and seems a lot of guys use to make platforms out of. Looking for opinions on wether I should hack this thing up or just sell to find a predator

Predator delivery dates are unknown due to demand. If you can wait, get one.

I wouldn't cut it up if you can wait on the Predator. It's probably worth just as much or possibly even a little more than a Predator.

My season is over so not really in a rush. Is the predator going to be that much better than the Klemz style lonewolf?

I am the least experienced person here, but here is my free opinion. Keep the lone wolf whole and order a predator. If you don’t see it getting used in the next couple of seasons, sell it or give it away. I think Tethrd is caught up.

I doubt if it is going to be that much "better" since they are very similar but the Predator would be ready to go with no mods necessary. Plus, you'd be supporting the Tethrd guys as well as making another fellow hunter happy if you sold the LW stand. There seems to be a demand for those lighter Assaults. Just seems like a waste of a bunch of aluminum to me if you only need a small portion of it. The only reason people were modifying them in the first place was bc there were no other commercial available options...and now there are.

Sell that bad boy and buy the predator. The predator is purpose built for saddle hunting so I think you’ll enjoy it more. Got mine a couple weeks ago and I’m digging it for sure.

Thanks for the input anyone make the Klemz style have a weight on it and possibly size difference. I think I can utilize the seat of the LW without modification and just source a new post therefore I’m thinking If I decide later I could reassemble stand to sell or use

I would just order the predator. You can save the lone wolf for kids wife etc. You may find out your a ring of steps guy and not a platform guy. Later on if you decide your a platform guy but want something larger you can still cut up the lone wolf. It’s just at this point in the game you really don’t know what you will like and you can’t uncut cast aluminum.

I was originally thinking starting with the seat not actually cutting the platform down. This would save me selling this to fund a predator. I’m thinking just unbolt seat and put on a new post. I have versa buttons and a offset bracket laying around.

You could definitely do that. You could probably pick up some of the post from someone who’s cut their sticks down and has some extra material.

Just keep in mind that the predator has a standoff up top and teeth on the tree side of the platform. It cam locks onto the tree much like a lock on tree stand would.

I dont think you could do exactly that with the seat but I’ve seen a fancy way to tie it to the tree that makes it work. Can’t remember what they call it but it makes it really tight against the tree.

The old Lone Wolf seats have a cast-in vee bracket with teeth.
