DIY Amsteel Best Platform Attachment Method?

I have a bunch of different diameter amsteel and knitting needle kids for Fids. Looking to create or recreate the best saddle platform attachment method to replace the heavy cam buckle that came with platform. It seems like there are several different methods for sale out there, but I enjoy making my own stuff. Looking for recommendations on what to make, not marketing something to purchase. Was thinking 12 ft of 1/4 inch amsteel with a locked brummel splice for the eye on the main attachment line and some sort of whoopie/daisy combo with a 3/16 inch prusik or schwabbish hitch at the tag end to tighten up? I have seen some many commercial you tube videos for all the commercial amsteel products that it's all starting to run together, lol.

A simple daisy chain may work as well and doesn't seem hard to make from what I've watched. I think what you're describing will work as well. I have had whoopie slings slip from not enough bury in my hammock applications.

i think i've tried them all and always go back to daisy chain. quite a few good youtube vids on how to make. start loops earlier than you think you should for small trees and bury a good bit at the end to add weight to help you get it around the tree. stupid simple to set and set correctly in the dark

8 foot daisy chain using 1/8" amsteel is all I use with platforms....usually using it with a trucker's hitch....nothing I've found is as light, quiet, and solid on the tree

How are you using a truckers hitch?

there's several variations...but this gets you started

just do this put around the button for your platform

i also use this method on climbing steps and platforms without a versabutton (tree hopper tree suit)

it's very flexible and you'll find many uses

it works great with camming platforms because the tightness of the hitch with the low stretch of the amsteel means that the platform doesn't move on the tree and so doesn't make any noise

Interesting. Thanks much for info.

With my platform (homemade), you can have quite a bit of slack and no kickouts. I have an eye around the button and then just pick the closest loop (no need to twist) pull down and slightly cam. Rock solid. I actually dont want it tight for ease of breakdown after hunt. Just quietly lift and store.

I imagine each platform design needs different techniques.

Hard to tell, but maybe you can get a gauge of the amount of slack that i can have

have you tried the PSH amsteel rope. I watched video for it and it looked super easy to make and attach. I made a small proto type yesterday and attached to tree in back yard. Worked really well. Going to use 17ft of 3/16 amsteel and do a full bury with spliced locked brummel eye where the simple hitch is tied with tag end of the rope. The hardest part of project is getting castration bands on the rope to make the loop that goes around button of platform.

This was just some leftover (8ft) of 1/4" amsteel with spliced eye for rope moding sticks, but it worked great just needs to be longer and uniform thickness.

I have not tried this. Im old. Simple = safe in my mind. But thats just me. Try things and see what works for you. Mine is the most basic daisy chain. You can literally do these safely blindfolded. Not saying you should, of course, but ..
