My Primal platform is 2 lbs 7 oz with the heavy buckle. Your platform must be pretty thick aluminum.
 
Dang.... That little thing is heavy. Looks like 1x1 post unless you got giant hands.... So angle looks 2x2x3/8....maybe thicker... Hard to tell in pic
 
I mean when did 3 pounds become heavy? So you shave off a pound will you really feel it? I would rather carry an extra pound or half pound and it be over built. Probably just me though.

It's only heavy on Saddlehunter. :D I agree with you but I was only commenting in case someone was going to build one. I think that 1/4" angle could hold an elephant but the rest of the platform could not. Maybe sourcing a thinner aluminum angle would optimize the weight better for SH. Unless the weight went to 1.0 lbs many people here would not impressed. I will continue to use my Primal platform but maybe work on a lighter one if I'm looking for a DIY project just for the experience.
