How long should make my mane beam?

I think I should put platform in middle of beam.

What would be the best way to secure it to the tree? I’m a little worried if the welds would hold up to the camming over idea, although there not rusted or anything.

Thanks for any help.

I think I made my post about 10-12” long with platform in the middle. Don’t want the post too long because it will allow more flex. Welds should be fine if they’re not rusted. I use a LW style cam buckle strap on mine. I have a amsteel dogbone girth hitched to one side of the platform hooked to strap. On the other side I have another amsteel dogbone with a biner to hook to strap once it’s around the tree. Then I snug it up and cam it over. I have on thread on a platform I built that’s very similar, I’ll try and find it and post here for you to take a look at.

Well this Stand might be a little too old. I ratchet strapped to a tree and stood on it and gave it some force slightly hopping up and down and it started to give way.

Yeah you’d probably do better to grab a new stand at Walmart or something for cheap and modify it. They can usually be found for around $30 or so
