DIY platform question

I have a sandcast stand that I cut the v off the seat, could I still use it for a platform with a v bracket on top and bottom off the post? I know it wouldn’t cam lock but just wondering if someone has done it. I’m dabbling with the idea of trying out saddle hunting but am not going to spend 400+ for a set up just to decide if I like it. I know I could cut up my platform and have the v to cam lock but I don’t want to do that, I still want to option of having a stand.

Look up posts here on the Hawk Hangout tree seat and it shows ya a way to cam it over how I think you're describing. There's still some wobble in the junction between the seat and the post but it greatly reduces it if you can cam it. Or you can attach the strap to the seat, cinch the strap tight then cam over the seat and it allows it to get a little tighter too. I think you'll get the idea watching this guy's video: t
