First month with the saddle has been awesome! Have never hunted out of the saddle before receiving the mantis, and I am hooked . I underestimated the importance of a solid platform.

After Looking at the commercial options, and some of the DIY options, I think I’m going to go to DIY route.

What are the pros and what are the pros and cons of mounting a Lonewolf replacement seat to the top of one Lonewolf climbing stick in place of the step Instead of a dedicated piece of aluminum tubing just for the platform?

I already have enough sticks, and would think this would be the most economical option.

If anyone has a thread or link to someone doing this, I would really appreciate it!

I remember seeing where @cbigbear1 (the guy who makes stick talons) had done something along those lines I believe. Not sure what it was that he didn’t like about it or what didn’t work, but the idea never really struck gold. Not sure if it’s too much leverage on the thin 1” tubing, or the stand offs were the issue. I know most use the tree brackets from the stands since they’re thicker and stronger when the build platforms with seats. Depending on your weight, give it a try at ground level and see what happens.

I am actually trying this mod today. I am cannibalizing parts from my Lonewolf Assault 2.

My plan is to put the Tree Bracket on the stand behind the middle step, and replace the hanging strap with 2 ratchet straps (at 1/3 & 2/3 the length of the stick)

I think it will be plenty solid
