Does anyone use a scent crusher bag to clean their saddle, tether & lineman’s belt?
I have a Kestrel and I’m very curious if it’s safe to put in a scent crusher bag to deodorizer it???

I know it’s bad and rubber and elastic but unsure on the different saddles?

I know it sounds like a pretty weird question. But I would rather ask if it could possibly ruin my equipment.

The mantis was heavily tested in ozone and reportedly showed no signs of degradation. I don’t know about the other commercially available saddles. I thought even on rubber and elastic it would take a lot of hours of ozone to degrade significantly. With the crusher bag I think your talking about a 15-20 minute cycle which would be far short of the amount needed to damage rubber. Of course the effect is accumulative but these short cycles are really small blasts of concentrated ozone and the free molecules would be used up well before doing damage. Even if your saddle was made entirely out of rubber I would suspect that it would take years of cycles for the average hunter to degrade the rubber sufficiently enough to be of concern and at that point a case could be made that naturally occurring ozone probably played as much of a roll in the degradation as the bag did.

I appreciate you input.

My scent crusher bag has not noticeably damaged my safety harnesses, straps, or ropes after two years of use. I have a Muddy and an HSS harness that I leave in the bag so they have been through quite a few cycles.

BUT... I would be sure to regularly inspect all your equipment for peace of mind and safety.

I ozone all of my stuff in my scent crusher bag, Ropes, kestrel, release...... been doing this for over a year with no issues, just dead deer.

For what it's worth, some rubbers degrade faster in ozone than others. My Sitka suspenders were shot after a few cycles in the bag.

I had a pair of scent lok thermals and the elastic band was shot after 2 15 min cycles

Mine were as well...and I only ran it 10 minutes a cycle, which is what Scent Crusher recommended. Thankfully, Sitka took care of me!

They took care of me too! They recommended leaving the suspenders outside the bag/closet while running. I leave the suspenders outside and place them in a ziploc. No signs of wear yet after 6 or so cycles.

Little off topic, but I have been eyeing up a ozone bin/bag for years now. Been hesitant to pull the trigger on them. Have you noticed a difference? Obviously nothing is 100% scent elimination, but every step cant hurt.

What are the materials in a standard hunting setup to watch out for? I wonder about Muck boots?
