Doyles hoist tension strength?

Not sure this is the right terminology, but does anyone know the minimum weight that will reel out on the Hoist? I want to use one, but was worried my longbow may not be heavy enough to stay on the ground! With my stands ( presets) I always had a pull rope that I would hang of to the side somewhere. While so far this year I have been hunting preset trees, I didn't put a rope in the tree, just used a pull rope tied to my belt loop. That has been a pain! Have gotten it tangled on steps twice, once having to to climb half way back down to unloop it. Anyone else using relatively light gear that might shed some light?

I would imagine it would work, if you can weigh your bow I can put that on mine to make sure.

You'll be fine. The spring tension does increase the more string that is pulled out but my longbow weighs 21 oz and it doesn't pick it up. It does however stand it up on the bottom limb tip though! :)
Can't speak for the webbing version, mine is the string style.

2.5lbs fully loaded! Thanks

I use one with my Longbow with no issues. I have a bow quiver on mine but I can’t imagine it not working. I like the hoist just fine but it’s kind of bulky. I had a length of some braided rope that didn’t twist up when I would it up to put it away and always unraveled easily. If I could find some more of that stuff I’d ditch the hoist.

I haven't used my cord style Doyles in quite a while but I seem to recall that the recoil spring would hold one end of my recurve w/quiver slightly off the ground. It doesn't prevent the line from getting tangled in your other gear or you from getting tangled up or stepping on the line as you climb. IMO, the main characteristics of the Doyles is that it keeps your tow line tight as you climb and stores it untangled. Plain old paracord still wins the day for me.

Hawk makes a reel style pull rope that they sell at bass pro. It doesn’t require hardly and weight to pull out. I believe I only paid $12 for it and it has been well worth it. I have it attached to my pack and I just clip to my bow and climb. Once at the top you can pull your bow up and then reel in the cord. Helps keep everything organized and only weighs a couple of ounces!

I bought a few of the Hawks a couple years ago. Wamart had them on sale for $3. Works good for me.
