About to put together some arrows with ethics ss inserts & sleeve. Curious if most glue
the sleeve or just not? I feel strange about not, but also see how tight the fit is & think the
epoxy might end up uneven. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Sweet...Troy replied "I glue them with slow set epoxy and make sure a straight broadhead spins before I let cure."

Guess that's the route I'll go.

I chose not to only became once I screwed on a point and shoot them a couple times I can't get the sleeve back off without some persuasion

Makes sense. So no problems with them not being glued, removing from targets?

Only downfall I can think of is them pushing on the insert over time & loosing some.
Hate to spin test everything to have them gradually shift.

A little dab will do. Or a bit of cool tite which loosens with hot water. That’s why I do mine, maybe my shaft diameters were a bit smaller but the broad heads would loosen up. And I just like the security

Thanks for the help.

Just figured out exactly why I have to glue em.

I'm in the process of spin testing the inserts before slow set epoxy. I got the arrows spinning
perfect with the inserts, then press fit the sleeve. I then realized the sleeves are going to have
to spin tested to avoid wobble. A hair of a turn of the sleeve & I get wobble. When I turn it, I
find a wobble free spot.

Man this arrow build is turning into a fun project.

So first I'm going to spin test & mark each insert to 24 hour epoxy. After that's done I'll press fit
the sleeve & mark where there's no wobble. Then like Exhumis suggested, use a little dab of expoxy
for the sleeve.

Should fly straight after that.

I glued mine using a slow set golf club shafting epoxy. There was some slop in the outside shaft and sleeve fit. To fix this, I used .004 glass beads mixed with the epoxy and it filled that slop and made the sleeve fit tightly. I have a Magnus Stinger that is designated as my spinner broadhead...and I make sure they spin straight with that then I stand them straight up until they dry.

If you break the shaft, you will have to burn the carbon out of the middle because the glue bond will not fail. Which is what you want.

I did not glue mine didn’t really see a reason too because there is no play in them and any force with a shot on an animal will be just driving it farther onto the shaft. I did make the mistake of unscrewing a broadhead on the back side of my target to pull the arrow out and sleeve pulled off, I had a heck of a time getting it back out of the target. I also use hot melt on my incerts. I’m sure that will make some guys cringe, but I’ve never had a problem and I like to be able to change things with out damaging the shaft.
